I will be happy when the general statement, "men like long hair" will be a thing of the past. I personally feel that if a woman is working a hairstyle, regardless the length, then it does not matter. It's about personal style. Also, if a man dismisses you because of a hairstyle, then he's not worth your time.

First I don't understand the problem here. Some like weaves. Some like extensions, tracks, natural, relaxed, pressed, rollled, wrapped. So what? I wear a relaxer. I don't care for some styles like those with nappy hair wearing it natural. I think curly or wavy or "good" hair should be worn natural but not nappy hair. BUT I don't condemn those who do. So why are some of you making such a big deal about what someone else does? Its really not that serious. And Essence you fueled it by asking men about how Black women wear their hair... a HAIR STYLE? Do you see white mags doing that? That makes the issue much bigger than it already is. Again ITS - JUST - A - HAIR - STYLE! D.am get a life.

For the longest i was the bohemian braids wearing chic. I will never forget when i was 18 working at a restaurant in my verrrry southern hometown. A customer came up to pay her tab and asked me what part of Africa i was from, then she tried to smooth it out by saying, " why i just love the hairstyles that accompany your culture." Ha! Some of us sistah's wouldve been offended. Me on the other hand, i was flattered at her ignorance to think that because my hair wasnt fried, died and laid to the side, i was anything BUT from America. lol funny right?!

For generatrions we have been pressured to inhance our image for society's ego. That's why our Natural isnt Normal. That's why our Nappy is Nasty. It's hypocritical for most men to comment on our image, when damn near every music video is showcasing every race except our own. A clear indication that it's not just us women who have the complex.
