I agree with Bowdred we women go through enough why cut one another down cause of hair, its just not that serious its just hair... Enjoy being a women embrace the fact that we are different. Just be who you are and be proud, there is nothing to prove to anyone. Life is too short to beef about hair. Much love ladies: )

To Etenal: I hear you! hahaha, I'm looking for a new hair do' that'll be easy to maintain throughout basic training. Any suggestions? I'm debating whether I should get this kind of crop, or maybe a little longer, like a chin length bob. Or, should I just keep my a- little- pass- the -shoulder length hair and throw it back in a nice, secure bun? If anyone has any suggestions, please email me. I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you! =) Email: wannabkes@aol

@Trice Wow, your comment is straight up ignorant. All the usage of the term "good hair" is exactly what is wrong with black america. To say that not everyone wants to look crazy and like they are from Africa was hurtful. Natural sistah's don't go around accusing people with relaxed hair of looking eurocentric. It's a personal choice. I'm glad to see that you had to put in their that your a quarter while. CONGRATS!! This fact automatically makes you prettier and better than everyone else right? GTFOH!!

either some women are really blind, or dont know the difference between natural and fake hair, but just cuz a women hair is not nappy looking, which every black woman does not approve of that look, most of the models had there real hair, to me, thats as natural as it gets, not everybody wanna look they from africa, some people got really good hair, why ruin it by making it crazy, looking, since i tried the "natural look" i messed up my hair, no perming or cutting my edges, I almost messed up my real hair, im mixed with white25% and black so i forget that time to time, tryn to follow the trend

Maybe people with natural styles should find a site that appreciates them.

Most of these styles cannot be worn in a corporate environment. Too flashy. In addition their are a significant number of women who are not relaxing their hair anymore. It would be nice if you kept up with this trend and included a few natural styles in your future articles. Thanks.

Please, please, please ....can we also have natural hairstyles featured along with the weaves too?..not all sisters have weaves and flowing locks. We also have afros,, twists, locks and Sisterlocks. We look to black magazines to get ideas and inspiration, please dont go down the path of white hairstyles in the main.

I enjoy seeing a variety of hairstyles myself. While I am not natural ( I have been in the past), I like that Essence always addresses the needs of her reader. We are too diverse in look, and style not to provide natural hairstyles along with cuts, weaves etc. This is a magazine that has always managed to keep us united; let's not allow the issue of hairstyles in essence polarize us. Be beautiful ladies :-)

There was not 1 natural hair style! What's up with that. Not corporate/white enough?

Being natural I would have liked to see at least 1 person with a natural hair style. Going natural is becoming more and more of a trend. Embrace your natural hair. It is a freeing experience!

women need to stop complaining about looks and just enjoy being a woman. it doesn't matter if you wear your hair natural, permed or weave just enjoy being a woman and looking nice. learn how to not complain and just enjoy clothe,make-up if you wear it. life is a blessing it self so stop and smell the roses. being a woman is a powerful job.
