January 20: Inauguration

In the first 100 days of Barack Obama’s presidency, he has ushered in a sweeping agenda (and had some fun along the way). Here are some of his biggest moments.

Hours after President Barack Obama takes the oath of office, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel orders a suspension of all last-minute policies pushed through by the Bush administration.

I LOVE the Obama family. My spirit is feeling them. I wish I could really meet them in person, I bet they are just as nice in person as on T.V. President Obama is not doing any worst than any other president that has been in the Oval office. He is doing the best that he can. He is a warm spirited person and a peace maker. He is family oriented. They both have morals about themselves. Michelle is bringing us back to farming natural vegetables, etc. Look how she started that garden at the White House. No other president that I could remember have done this. The Obamas are respectful people and made something out of themselves. (smile)

I love these folks. Much, much work. They came into a disaster. The family has in fact traveled to PurpleUmpkin. Twice. How can I get the people at essence to come visit? Best. Michael John McCann Mayor of PurpleUmpkin.

Meanwhile the community of Color needs to pull their resources & each one help another to get on their feet with stability. Mentor an adult who is struggling. Do something other then resting in Zion. Its time to move.....I think we are too distracted.. I invite your comments and questions...

I am absolutely proud of the President & First Lady Obama. The work they have before them is massive. I however am beginning to feel a bit of disapointment that the President is not addressing the needs of grass roots people. Job Loss has soared . Worse, we can expect more job loss which affect the Black comm. more then others. Most of the working poor, or lower income generally worked from paycheck to paycheck. They have no inheritance, property or family members for most part where they could all stay under the same roof. Not so in other communities. Our people are struggling, crime will go up as a result. Many of us have yet to feel the effect of the recession in ways that take food /basic needs off your table. continue...

Why are we still discussing the degree of blackness of our "fellow Black Americans?" I am light-skinned and I too never received one leg up because of that. I have gotten were I am today because I worked for it and wanted to make myself proud, and make my family proud.

I noticed the same exact thing. I don't see hardly any dark skinned people in the administration. It's like this whole house vs. field negro mentality all over again.

Oh for God sake with the light-skin dark-skin color crap! It's about how qualified a person is not the shade of our skin. Must these things keep us down forever! I am "light skinned" and as far as I know in all my 48 years I have had to work my ass off for everything. No one has ever opened a door for me and say come in. Never!

I want to know why there are so many light-skinned folks in his administration. Ain't none of them dark as his wife.

Now, let's hope that because he's been in office for 100 days that the all nay-sayers who were predicting doom and gloom can put their fears to rest. Great that President Obama is enjoying a positve job rating thus far in his presidency. Let's just hope that the numbers read the same way at the end of 2012.
